When a company pours funds on a non-profit in exchange of no service related to
the company I always suspect there are tax reasons at play. It is artificial
and it sucks.

If the managing board wants to donate money to the Homophobe Gays non-profit or
whatever, they should extract the money from the company via the regular
channels and place them in their own accounts, then donate the money on their
own behalf.

But then you could end up like Mr. Javascript guy, who did just that and got
beaten for it.
