A lot of SysOps out there are just as knowledgeable as you (or me), as well! Sure, there's a lot of them that barely understand how they got set up in the first place. But implying that *all* SysOps are like that is simply incorrect. For the record (pun not intended), it seems *I'm* struggling with DNS right now...this doesn't mean I don't understand how it works, it just means that I broke it.
