What makes it more useful is in the eye of the beholder. For me, it moves daylight away from a useful hour (before 8am) to somewhere that is not useful (after 8pm). Sunlight in the morning is more beneficial to your seratonin levels. More sunlight in the afternoon/evening does nothing for it. The original "idea" for DST was floated by Benjamin Franklin as a joke. When he was in France, the French liked sleeping in very late and not keeping regular hours, which made it difficult to meet with them. He joked that they should switch the clocks so the "lazy" French could be places on time. Unfortunately, many years later, someone heard of his idea and missed the joke. ....
