Preventing the network to degrade as certain web forums I know off, in which people is free to break the rules as long as the moderators agree with their opinion. Those places degenerate into echo chambers very quickly. If cars are off-topic, a friend of the moderator starts critizising Peugeots, and the moderator does nothing because he hates Peugeots himself, the end result is quite ugly. No debate can take place and nobody can learn a thing, because if anybody shows up saying Peugeots aren't that bad, he is risking a banhammer. The place turns into a useless space for 1984esque "two minutes of hate" in which the only goal is for people who share a certain opinion to circle-jerk. The thread is more than 24 hours old already so I totally expect it to have been noticed. -- gopher://gopher.richardfalken.com/1/richardfalken --- SBBSecho 3.14-Linux * Origin: Palantir * palantirbbs.ddns.net * Pensacola, FL * (21:2/138) .
