TBH, I don't think the Russians are asking any more than the US has in the
past: the Russians don't want NATO weapons on Ukrainian soil any more than
the Americans wanted Russian missiles on Cuban soil. Of course, if Putin's
intentions are more nefarious - a new Soviet Union perhaps - then there may
be no stopping him.

Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail.
