Good for source material, but not for use in my application - too much manual intervention. My system fires up a cron job to play a loooooooong MP3 at a specific time, and kill playback at a suitable time in the morning. There's also logic to get a rough indication of ambient temperature (from an on board sensor) and abort playback if it's too hot (it's not needed under those conditions as I have a fan running then that does the same job), to avoid the risk of overheating the CPU. There's also logic to detect the audio device to use - normally an external USB device, but the on board sound for backup). I can also use the device detection to restart the playback process to blindly attempt restart anytime during the playback period. That has been useful at times. To be compatible with my system, the audio file needs to be a compatible format (MP3/M4A/FLAC, etc) and at least 11 hours long in playback time - looping a shorter file may create disturbances that interrupt sleep. .... I'm an optimist... I'm positive things are going to go wrong. ;) === MultiMail/Win v0.52 --- SBBSecho 3.10-Linux * Origin: Freeway BBS Bendigo,Australia freeway.apana.org.au (21:1/109) .
