Funny you should mention that - I have horrid tinnitus, but when it's quiet 
I can hear my wife snoring downstairs, or the sound that moving a metal 
drying rack across the downstairs tile bathroom floor makes, and we have 
a layer of soundproofing and carpeting between the floors.
