Mine sounds like a high pitched, sometimes pulsing whine, the kind some old CRT's could make.  The odd thing is, if I press on the top of my head, or turn to the side, it usually gets louder, then back to regular volume when I look straight ahead or stop pressing on my head.

If I put pressure under my skull, behind my ears, it gets a tad quieter.
