It took therapy for me to realize how normalized a dysfunctional, 
emotionally and esteem-killing marriage had become, and it took fatherhood 
to realize that the relationship wouldn't let me be the father figure I 
wanted to be for my son to drive me to move on from my first marriage.

My son turned 18 this summer and I celebrated my 10 year anniversary with my 
new wife. It all worked out pretty well, I think.
