I have seen my share of divorces - including everyone in my family (minus my brother) and most all of my friends.  There are tons of reasons this can happen. Some people change and go in different directions, grow apart.  Just like working in a job, there are some things you can deal with and some things you can't. Each person has their own unique list of things that are most important to them.

Maybe one day there will be some magic program algorithm you could use for compatability that would help.  Then again, with the potential changing interests as time goes on, that probably won't work either.
