I see both sides of this, because I have experienced both sides of this. Speaking for myself that has been married three times.  

What Atreyu described is very true and real when in a bad relationship or marriage.  What really sucks is eventually it seems normal and don't realize it isn't normal.  Just like growing up in a bad dysfunctional home.

That isn't to say that normal good relationships don't go through ups and downs. That is life, but there is a big difference between dysfunctional relationships and good relationships..
