I have a lifehack you may find interesting.

First you get a friend that frequents the business you want an app-based
discount for. You have HIM install the data mining app. Then you go with him
into the business and enjoy the discount together. He pays with his data and
you reap the benefits. Everybody is happy, including the sucker who is giving
his data away.
