No, they are more of a "soda" or what we call "soft drink". Ginger beer differs 






from Ginger Ale in that it is spicier and more robust.

Ginger Ale called Vernor's that is aged giving it a distinct taste. Yes it 
interesting how names of beverages differ between countries and even between 
states/provinces/territories.
