Question: Is ginger beer ever served as a fermented bev? For that matter, is
any root beer? Is ginger beer considered a root-beer? 

In my region of the states, we called it ginger-ale and mostly refered to
Canada-Dry or, sometimes, Schwepps (sp?!) Ginger Ale. It seems like as the
hipsters took over (just joking... sorta), I started seeing Ginger Beer in
the health-food shops and it tasted very similarly, except stronger ginger
flavour - perhaps.

I say this, but then again, in my region of 'Hobbiton', I think we called
everything 'Coke' as well.... heh - much simpler times.
