Agree with you on the amount of work, Maximus is not for those short on time,
the configuration files, the message/file areas, then the menus, etc, would
probably take 5 times longer (or more) than a menu driven product.  Overall
though, if you did have the time, the end product would be exactly what you
were looking for.

I still have it as an open project but on the back burner right now :-)
