One thing -- you wouldn't get files through files echos that Avon sends out.

I recently set up Synchronet with fsxNet (using a point) and it was pretty
painless, and actually intuitive once you get your head around the multiple
config files :)

Digital Man has a video on youtube where he walks through a complete
Fidonet style setup. I think it's for Windows, but pretty much the same if you
are on another OS.
