I have avoided any kind of permanent ban of IP addresses because the bad guys
just come up with another and someone else may get that IP and then they have a
 problem getting in.

That does leave all the junk there for your server to deal with but Synchronet
seems to do a good job of handling that.

It would be good to know the W5 of all that so it doesn't happen agian, or if
it does we know what the solution is.
