Subj : Bringing Fidonet to small villages To : JOHN DOVEY From : Flavio Bessa Date : Mon May 17 2021 16:56:08 Hey John, About your project, what I can think of is to create a small mail-only system using a Raspberry Pi, with a good NNTP server (can be either JAMNNTPD or Synchronet's native NNTP server) and a wireless router with an open SSID. People would connect to this small network and have access to its services: perhaps an internal website explaining what can be done, than people could hook up into the NNTP server to have access to the echomail. Then, during a specific period (once a week, let's say), someone could collect the .pkt files from the outbound directory, send them to your system, and then you could import it and do the "store and forward" you've mentioned. That's my take on what could be done with what we have right now. Also I would follow Ward's suggestion and publish your idea into FN_SYSOP and/or FIDO_SYSOP so more people can jump in. Let me know your thoughts and how I can help. -- _ ...-----________________--_ ________.--'-`--._____ Flavio Bessa \____==================_) \_'===================` 4:801/188 _,--___.-|__|-.______|=====/ `---' fcbessa@gmail.com `---------._ ~~~~~| Rio de Janeiro `-._ - - - ,' Brasil \_____,-' Visit Zone4 Website at: https://fido.bbs.docksud.com.ar/wiki/doku.php?id=fidonet:nodos --- Thunderbird/MacOS 78.6.0 * Origin: Andromeda - Saturn's Orbit NNTP Gateway, Brazil (4:801/188) .
