So I am still not sure what you mean. Please tell me what host name do you use for polling and what do you think what happens and what should happen. For now, I suspect you use a host name that resolves to IPv6 (or even is an actual IPv6 address), but the IPv6 connection does not work (for whatever reason that is probably outside WP) and you now expect WP to automatically fallback to IPv4 for the same host !?
