'Alan' has no connection to the WINDOWS Fido echo other than a sometime reader/poster. A long time ago, when Windows 98 was released, the question was raised about re-naming WIN95. It was pointed out by folks who were more involved with the FIDO network than I was (or am) that re-naming an echo area was problematic, as it would be applied inconsistently by the various hosts and would cause problems and confusion routing the messages. The result has been that WIN95 kept that name - though it seems wildly out of place 21 years later. At one time, there was a WINDOWS2000 echo and a WIN32 echo among others.... --- * Origin: Fidonet Via Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) .
