Subj : W95 Notebook To : Ben Ritchey From : Ed Vance Date : Tue Jul 12 2016 14:09:00 Howdy! Ben, I tried to get the AcerNote Light 370P ext 381 Notebook open to replace the BIOS Battery but couldn't get the case off. Some years ago I had the Service Department at the Store where I bought the Used Notebook put a new battery in, but they couldn't do it. Later I called Acer Support and they gave me a Name of a place who could do it and a Toll Free telephone number to call them. When I told the person who answered about the store couldn't find a BIOS Battery in my Notebook, they told me that it was on the bottom side of a Printed Circuit Board and was hard to get to. I didn't send it off to have them put a new battery in because the Company wasn't near my area where I could drive to their location to get the job done. I looked for a Video on You Tube to show me how to do it but the only video I saw was someone describing what my Model notebook does. I did see a Acer Aspire BIOS Battery video but that is a different unit than mine. When I turn it On I press the F8 Key and wait and wait and wait to see the Safe Mode Menu. The old Hard Drive chatters and chatters but after a while I do see the Menu. Then I select the regular Command Prompt - Not the Safe Mode Command Prompt. I wait awhile and finally see the C:\> Prompt. I can use DIR C:\ /s/-p to save a Text File to that HDD, and it makes the file just fine. I use LIST.COM to read the file I made and also can use LIST.COM to look at all of the files in other Directories on the HDD, and the HDD doesn't chatter or pause when I move from Sub-Directory to Sub-Directory. I put that HDD in a USB adapter and try to see it in Windows Explorer on my XP computer and it chatters away and eventually shows up as a Local Drive, but I can't see any of the files in it. Wierd! But that isn't the only thing wierd in this computer room. I can't boot a ERD Floppy in the A: drive. The CD that Acer supplied won't boot either, so I could use the HDD I got from You. I'd like to backup the old HDD and restore the back up to Your HDD. Computers alway win because they have inside information. If any one has any suggestions of how I can replace the BIOS Battery or anything else to help me, I'll appreciate it. Thanks! ....
