It's more likely to be Benalla still, mate.  I checked again with uncle Google: 
the event is called the 'Austin 7 Club Historic Winton', and this year was the 
40th anniversary meet.

Well, we've copped it in buckets' full since then.  Maybe the news isn't as 
widely reported over there.  Commencing Saturday afternoon, there was a 
'perfect' alignment of 3 or 4 low pressure systems from here in the Wide Bay 
region, all the way down the eastern seaboard of OZ to Hobart in Tasmania.  It 
was compared initially to being similar to a Cat 1 cyclone (lowest on the 
scale, IAC), stretching the 1990-odd kms to Hobart.

The effect of the alignment of lows had a rolling consequence down the coast, 
over an approximate 48 hour period.  In a lot of instances at coastal 
communities, the enormous associated rainfall combined with increased 'king' 
tides producing flooding events.  Some towns along the coastal strip received 
record rainfall dumps also.  One report I recall hearing from a country town in 
NSW (north of Sydney?) receiving 461mm _overnight_ (yes, near half a metre).

Many city & town businesses, and beach homes have sustained incredible erosion 
and/or flood damage.  One house that has featured prominently on TV reports had 
completely lost their backyard, which had once fronted directly on to the 
beach, 30m distant.  Their in-ground swimming pool (10m^2x1.5m?) is now a big 
block of solitary concrete sitting by itself, at an angle, on the beach.  With 
further inclement weather and tides tonight, they may lose the rest of the 
house.

Except for the weekend, which brought freezing wind(chill) and humidity, we've 
now settled into roughly 12/13-22/24C days again.  Cold enough of a night for 
one blanket still.  We're both coming up to an equinox, Holger.  Maybe we'll 
share similar temperature ranges as well as length of days, for a short space 
of time.  :)
