Tom, On 06 May 16 18:03, you wrote to ED VANCE: TW> Can Anyone still alive here recomment a win 7 offline mail reader?? For a number of reasons I think this is the wrong question, Tom. Considering that 'change' in the IT universe is a constant on-ward & up-ward trend, you will always be on the back foot by running older software. I got around that by going to VirtualBox. I'm currently running a HP super-dooper box with Windows 8.1, with VirtualBox installed. (Actually it's a piece of junk but it was cheap and it works.) It runs one of either two XP virtual machines at various times, sometimes both for short periods. One XP used to run on my wife's old Ubuntu machine until I made the mistake of switching it off one day (all she ever saw was XP); like you, I didn't want to try to fix it. The other XP used to run on my Ubuntu PC, downstairs in the doghouse/man cave. Think of VirtualBox machines as USB devices. Just plug them into a new PC with VirtualBox installed, make a few configuration settings, and, you're back in business with your favourite whoosymahjigger software again. The trick is to know what needs backing up. ;) Either that, or bite the bullet and start doing Fidonet with an email client over news (NNTP) servers like Jean & Allan, etc. Cheers, Paul. ....
