Subj : Re: About cloning To : Tom Walker From : Holger Granholm Date : Sat Feb 27 2016 09:45:00 In a message on Saturday 02-26-16 Tom Walker said to Holger Granholm: GM Tom, Thank you very much for your reply. I knew that you have used various tool programs for many years, and that you prefer free programs as they work for you. So you have the experience to advice us "new" (since XP) Windows users. HG>I have installed the Easeus todo-Backup, and note that it can clone HG>disks. TW> I did have soem problems with Easus todo Backup Free. the biggest TW> one is that to make a CD for use with my ohter computers it needs TW> the pay edition. OK, thanks for the hint. That one I recalled, but wasn't sure where it came from, and what program it was. TW> There are several other free Image/cloning programs but since I have TW> had very good sucess with True Image by Acronis I have settled on TW> that one Yes, I have also used it in my XP laptop, but it didn't accept Win10 as a working environment. HG>Also I did install the Easeus Partition Manager, and made new partitions HG>in the free part of the HD. That worked OK. TW> Great Program and the one i use Thanks for your experience. HG>I did also install the Paragon Partition Master but deleted that one, TW> Many years ago I started with Partition Magic but dropped it when TW> Norton bought it Many moons ago I too used Partition Magic, but I don't think the Paragon Partition Master is the same program. There also is an extremely useful tool program that really covers all bases, discussed above, and more. It's named DFsee and is available for all known operating and HD filing systems, but I don't know if it in my case would cover both OS/2 and Windows with the same registration fee. TW> After so many uears of the Win 95, 98, Me and XP Start I jsut could TW> not get used to the Win 7 and later one so went using Classic Start That was also my first reaction to it in the beginning. The Win10 GUI was, if not frightening, at least very odd as compared to the OS/2 and XP GUI's, but Im slowly getting the hang of it. You know, "teaching an old dog, new tricks", hi. HG>I did also find that the e-mail program PMMail that I have used in OS/2, HG>is now available also for Windows, ..... I had to abandon that, because it refused to connect to my Mobile Internet provider, so I had to succumb to Thunderbird that connected OK, to the tune of 1784 mails that had gathered there, since they ceased the POTS support. TW> I am quite satisfied with Thunderbird, but then there is this "Old TW> Dogs and New Tricks" thing in my case Yes, I'm now in the same situation. I have probably lost two of the latest messages, because I thought that "Archive" did mean to save the messages for later reading/replying. Now I can't find them along with some other messages that I thought I'd save, while deleting most of those amassed 1784 messages. I have found the messages in the "Junk" folder, but so far I have not been able to get any text from them. Neither do I find any manual for Thunderbird, among the files downloaded at the installation. I hate to have to hang on the net to read manuals. TNX VY much for letting us lesser beings become a part of your long-term experience. 73 de Sam, OH0NC aka Holger ___ * MR/2 2.30 * Windows error 1b: Cannot find out our OWN code! --- PCBoard (R) v15.22 (OS/2) 2 * Origin: Coming to you from the Sunny Aland Islands.
