Thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday. Organized severe thunderstorms currently appear unlikely. ....Synopsis and Discussion... A large-scale upper trough will advance inland across the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday. Cool mid-level temperatures and strong large-scale ascent associated with the upper trough may support sufficient but weak instability and the maintenance of a low-topped band of thunderstorms. This activity should be ongoing along/near the coast of WA/OR/northern CA at the start of the period early Wednesday morning. Strong flow/shear is forecast at low/mid levels, which would conditionally support organized convection. However, surface-based instability is currently forecast to remain very weak, which may tend to limit the overall severe threat along/near the coast. Have therefore refrained from including low severe probabilities at this time. The potential for isolated thunderstorms may continue inland for portions of the higher terrain of WA/OR and northern CA through the period as the upper trough continues eastward. ...Gleason.. 11/03/2025 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
