Scattered severe thunderstorms are likely across portions of the Plains. Severe gusts are the primary hazard, though large hail is also possible across the central Plains. ....01z Update... Remnants of southwestern U.S. upper low have opened up and are now ejecting northeast across the Four Corners region. Leading edge of this feature appears to be partly responsible for an organized band of severe-wind-producing thunderstorms that are surging northeast across the central High Plains. Numerous measured wind gusts in excess of 50kt have been observed recently across western KS, and convection generating this activity will spread across the remainder of western KS this evening. Farther north, slower-moving frontal convection has evolved across NE into northeast CO. Approaching upper trough should encourage upscale growth to this activity, especially as some increase in the LLJ is expected across eastern KS into far southeast NE later this evening.
