Thunderstorms are not expected Thursday. ....Synopsis... Moderate to strong northwest flow aloft will exist across the CONUS on Thursday, extending from an upper ridge over the West Coast to the East Coast. As this western ridge shifts eastward, a tightening midlevel thermal gradient will develop over the Plains, with a minor trough amplification from the Mid/Lower MS Valley into the Southeast. At the surface, high pressure will maintain a stable air mass over land, with any appreciable instability over the western Gulf of Mexico. As the upper wave develops, lift will increase across portions of the northern Gulf Coast after 00Z, with precipitation developing. It still appears that any weak elevated instability may be insufficient for thunderstorms over land, but a isolated flash cannot be ruled out near the TX/LA Coasts. ...Jewell.. 01/01/2025 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
