Organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast through tonight across the contiguous United States. ....Synopsis... Water-vapor imagery early this evening shows a large-scale mid-level trough over the eastern U.S., a ridge over the High Plains, and a trough over the Sierra Nevada. The mid-level trough over the East will continue east into the western Atlantic waters off the Carolina coast and into the Northeast by late tonight. A thunderstorm band near the Carolina coast will continue moving east into the shelf waters this evening as a cold front sweeps through much of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Isolated thunderstorms are possible early this evening along the coastal Carolinas before drier/more stable air advects into the region. Weak buoyancy located near the immediate coast will likely hinder strong storm development. Farther north, a few thunderstorms are possible over portions of the Northeast tonight. ...Smith.. 10/21/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
