Severe thunderstorms are not expected on Sunday. ....Discussion... Amplification of the upper flow field is forecast Sunday, with cyclonic flow around an eastern U.S. trough expanding to include the entire eastern half of the U.S. and Gulf of Mexico. As this occurs, the trailing portion of a surface cold front crossing the western Atlantic will advance steadily southward across the Gulf of Mexico and southern Florida. A few showers -- and possibly a thunderstorm or two -- may evolve along the front during the afternoon, across southern portions of the Florida Peninsula and the Keys. By the end of the period however, the front is progged to have shifted south of the region. Elsewhere, ridging aloft will prevail over the West, though a second trough will shift gradually eastward across the eastern Pacific, approaching the West Coast overnight. However, onshore thunderstorms are not expected. ...Goss/Thornton.. 10/15/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
