Severe thunderstorms are not expected on Monday. ....Synopsis... A deep upper trough is forecast to extend from the Canadian Maritime Provinces to the Lower MS Valley early Monday morning, before moving gradually eastward throughout the day. By early Tuesday morning, this upper trough is expected to extend from an upper low just off the northern Mid-Atlantic coast into the central Gulf of Mexico. Farther west, upper ridging will likely extend from the Lower CO River Valley/southern CA into Alberta early in the period. This ridging is also expected to shift eastward, in response to a strong shortwave trough moving through the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. Sensible weather east of the Rockies will remain dominated by expansive ridging centered over the Plains. Dry conditions associated with this ridging combined with continued northerly low-level trajectories should keep any low-level moisture well offshore. The only exception is across south FL where some low-level moisture may remain early in the period. The only chance for thunderstorms appears to be over coastal portions of the Pacific Northwest, both early Monday within a frontal band and later in the afternoon/evening as the primary upper trough moves through.
