Severe thunderstorms are not expected on Sunday. ....Synopsis and Discussion... A large, closed upper cyclone should encompass much of the eastern CONUS and Canada on Sunday. Meanwhile, upper ridging should persist over the Rockies and Southwest. At the surface, appreciable low-level moisture will remain confined along/south of a cold front forecast to be located over the Gulf of Mexico and south FL. Thunderstorm potential appears limited for a large majority of the CONUS Sunday, with a few exceptions. Beneath the cold-core upper low, low-topped convection may be capable of producing occasional lightning flashes as it moves across Lake Erie/Ontario into adjacent portions of western NY and vicinity. Isolated thunderstorms appear possible across parts of south FL mainly Sunday afternoon/early evening along and south of the cold front. But, with negligible large-scale ascent forecast, any convection which can develop will probably be tied to either modest low-level convergence along the front or mesoscale sea breeze boundaries. Finally, convection may also develop across parts of AZ Sunday afternoon, mainly along/near the Mogollon Rim. ...Gleason.. 10/06/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
