Severe storms are not expected through the remainder of the Day 1 period. ....Discussion... Thunderstorms have largely diminished across the U.S. over the past several hours, as a cold front has progressed southward through Texas and into the western Gulf, and a second front continues to advance across the Great Lakes/Midwest. Isolated showers and a few thunderstorms remain possible across portions of the Great Lakes this evening, near and ahead of the advancing front. An isolated storm or two may still move inland near the Carolina Coast, though most convection will remain offshore. Finally, showers and a couple of thunderstorms may develop over the southeastern Louisiana/southern Mississippi vicinity this evening near the southern front.
