The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 706
continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for damaging gusts continues across central and
northeast TX.

DISCUSSION...Radar trends and surface observations shows that the
convection that was previously behind the composite front/outflow
has now caught up to the boundary. As this occurred, several strong
to severe gusts occurred over the Metroplex, the strongest of which
was 66 kt (76 mph) at the Fort Worth Naval Airstation (KNFW). KFWS
radar imagery continues to show an area of strong outbound
velocities entering Hill and Ellis Counties. Minimal convective
inhibition exists ahead of this portion of the line, suggesting the
threat for strong gusts will continue downstream for the next hour
or two.=20

Another strong updraft exists within this convective line over
Hopkins and Wood Counties in northeast TX. Convective inhibition is
stronger downstream of this portion of the line. However, it is well
organized and orientated more perpendicular to the mean flow,
suggesting a relatively greater potential for damaging gusts than
the environment would typically suggest.
