Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible through the remainder of the evening, and possibly into the overnight hours, across parts of the Midwest, southeast New Mexico, and far west Texas. ....Synopsis... The severe threat continues across the Midwest with a few strong to severe thunderstorms ongoing as of 00 UTC. Hail reports over the past few hours have been sub-severe, but approaching 1 inch in diameter. With no appreciable change to the environment or storm modes expected heading into the overnight hours, severe hail, and perhaps damaging gusts, will remain possible. The severe threat will likely shift from central/northern IL into central to eastern MO and southern IL through the next several hours as thunderstorms develop along a cold front in an environment favorable for a mix of discrete cells and clusters. Elsewhere, the severe threat continues for NM and far west TX, but is expected to wane through midnight with the onset of nocturnal cooling. Across northern FL, the primary band of convection has moved offshore, leaving a fairly stable environment in its wake with low potential for additional severe storms. ...Moore/Leitman.. 09/27/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
