Organized severe thunderstorms are not currently forecast across the contiguous United States on Monday. ....Synopsis... A positively tilted mid-level trough initially over the Upper Midwest will slowly shift southeastward into the western Great Lakes and mid MS Valley. While this occurs, a cold front draped from the Great Lakes into the lower MO Valley/southern Great Plains will push southward reach the Permian Basin Monday night. Widely scattered showers/thunderstorms are forecast over the southwest Great Lakes. A separate area of scattered showers/thunderstorms will likely focus near the front over OK into portions of northwest TX and eastern NM. Low-level moisture will probably be limited (mid to upper 50s deg F dewpoints) across the southern High Plains given the lack of cyclogenesis downstream of a weak mid-level ridge over the Four Corners. A few strong storms could perhaps develop over portions of the southern High Plains but confidence is low regarding this scenario. ...Smith.. 09/09/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
