The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 674, 675
continues.

SUMMARY...The greatest risk for damaging winds in the next 1-2 hours
should exist with multiple storm clusters moving northeastward.

DISCUSSION...Thunderstorm coverage has increased across eastern PA,
NJ, southern NY, and parts of New England along/near a weak front.
Ample low-level moisture, moderate to locally strong MLCAPE, and
steep low-level lapse rates are all aiding efficient downdraft
momentum and strong/gusty winds, with occasional measured severe
wind gusts noted. Even though deep-layer shear remains fairly
modest, around 25-35 kt of southwesterly mid-level flow is aiding
northeastward movement of multiple small thunderstorm clusters from
the coastal Mid-Atlantic into southern New England. Scattered
damaging winds should continue to be the main threat with this
activity given the favorable thermodynamic environment, but isolated
hail may also occur with any stronger updrafts that can remain
semi-discrete.
