Isolated severe thunderstorms remain possible across central Illinois into southern Indiana this evening. A few strong storms are also expected across the central Plains from southeast Colorado into northern Kansas. ....01z Update... Weak MCS continues propagating south across eastern KY early this evening. This complex of storms is reinforcing a boundary that is draped from central KY-southern IN-central IL. Over the last hour or so, strong storms have developed along this boundary over central IL which should track southeast along/near the wind shift within modest northwesterly flow but strong instability. Upper anticyclone centered over the southern Plains continues to redirect weak short-wave troughs around this feature across the Four Corners into the central Plains. It appears the remnants of an old tropical system are influencing clusters of strong convection across southeast CO into northern KS. As the upper high slowly breaks down and drifts west, steering currents may allow some of this activity to spread across northern KS toward northern MO. Gusty winds are the greatest risk. ...Darrow.. 08/26/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
