Severe thunderstorms remain possible in parts of the central Plains into the Upper Midwest this evening into later tonight. ....Synopsis... A shortwave trough continues eastward into the northern Plains this evening. Strong to severe thunderstorms continue in parts of South Dakota into Minnesota. This activity appears to be organizing into an MCS. With the low-level jet increasing this evening into parts of western/central Iowa, this MCS may be maintained into the overnight with at least some potential for damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail. More isolated supercellular activity continues across parts of the central Plains. These storms may persist another couple of hours before boundary layer stabilization increases. Large hail and isolated wind gusts may accompany these storms. Widely scattered storms continue in northwest Texas where temperatures rose to above 100 F. Copious amounts of outflow has been produced with these storms. A few strong wind gusts may still occur for the next couple of hours before activity weakens. Warm advection overnight may foster a continuation of storms in parts of the Southeast. Damaging gusts and perhaps small/marginal hail may accompany this activity. ...Wendt.. 08/11/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
