The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 582
continues.

SUMMARY...Scattered severe storms capable of damaging gusts remain
likely across WW 582, and may spread into western Kansas later this
evening.

DISCUSSION...Impressive wind gusts to 70-80 mph have been measured
with storms over CO, and the environment remains unstable extending
eastward into KS. The 00Z DDC sounding shows MLCAPE of 2700 J/kg,
with 20 to 30 kt mid to high level winds. This should favor
east/southeast storm motions. Steep lapse rates and lack of
convective inhibition should aid forward/eastward propagation with
damaging outflow. With time, the smaller-scale clusters may merge
into a larger line of storms with wind damage potential. Easterly
winds in the boundary layer will further aid storm relative inflow.
