Severe thunderstorms will spread across the Black Hills into the central Plains this evening. Very large hail and severe gusts remain possible. Some severe threat will be noted with convection across western Missouri this evening. Gusty winds are the main threat with this activity. ....01z Update... Notable short-wave trough is cresting the Rockies ridge over MT/northern WY early this evening. In response, several clusters of convection have developed from southeast MT, across the Black Hills into the NE Panhandle. This activity should continue to expand in areal coverage with one or more MCSs likely maturing across the high Plains later this evening. Some risk for very large hail will be noted with supercells this evening, otherwise severe wind gusts are possible, especially if convection continues to organize. Farther southeast across the lower MO Valley, an organized cluster of strong/severe thunderstorms has evolved over northwest MO/northeast KS. Winds have recently gusted to 58kt at STJ and this complex should continue to propagate southeast across the KC metro over the next hour or so. Locally severe wind gusts are the primary threat with this convection over the next several hours. ...Darrow.. 07/31/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
