Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 544...

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 544
continues.

SUMMARY...Scattered strong thunderstorm development may continue to
pose a risk for hail and locally damaging wind gusts through 4-6 PM
EDT.  Trends will continue to be monitored, but it appears unlikely
that a new severe weather watch will be needed.

DISCUSSION...Thunderstorm development continues, but remains mostly
scattered in nature.  Outflow from an earlier clustering of storms
has stabilized the boundary layer across areas near and northeast of
the Catskills. Increasing outflow from other storms will gradually
lead to similar trends during the next few hours, as the mid-level
cold core, now centered over the Adirondacks vicinity, gradually
advects across the international border into southeastern Quebec.=20

With destabilization east of the Hudson/Champlain Valleys remaining
more modest, another severe weather watch may not be needed.=20
However, lingering pockets of moderately large CAPE upstream, into
parts of central New York State and north central Pennsylvania, may
maintain isolated strong to severe thunderstorm development another
couple of hours.
