Scattered to numerous severe storms are expected through tonight across a broad portion of the Ohio Valley into the Mid and Deep South, with a threat of damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a tornado or two. ....ArkLaTex/Southeast into parts of the OH Valley... Intense thunderstorms are ongoing this evening across parts of AR into southwest TN and northwest MS, and also across parts of the OH Valley. A substantial severe-thunderstorm threat is expected to persist through much of tonight, as a mid/upper-level shortwave trough moves across parts of the Great Lakes, and a seasonably strong west-northwesterly midlevel jet continues to impinge on a strongly unstable environment. Small but intense bowing clusters may continue to produce a swath of potentially severe/damaging gusts as they move southeastward this evening into a larger part of MS and northwest AL. Additional development and intensification remains possible this evening near the cold front across parts of the lower/mid OH Valley, Initial discrete development in this area could pose a threat of hail and perhaps a tornado or two. Some upscale growth will be possible later tonight, which would result in an increasing damaging-wind threat. Development along the cold front also remains possible later this evening into the ArkLaTex region and southeast OK.
