Valid 172318Z - 180115Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 323 continues. SUMMARY...The severe-weather threat continues for the next couple of hours across the Gulf Coast from LA to FL. Damaging wind gusts and large hail will be the primary threats. DISCUSSION...The first round of scattered, severe thunderstorms are currently heading offshore across portions of the Gulf Coast from southeast LA through the FL Panhandle. These storms have produced a plethora of damaging wind gusts and hail up to 1.75 inches in diameter. Temperature deficits in the wake of the storms are around 20 F, yielding substantial inhibition primarily behind the main convective cores. A few strong thunderstorms are ongoing in southern MS/AL behind the leading round of storms along the coast. These sustained storms have at least transient supercell characteristics and pose a threat for local damaging winds and hail. The overall threat from this "second" round of storms might be lower due to the overturned air in the wake of earlier convection. However, some localized recovery has occurred in less-cloudy portions of southern MS/AL (e.g., recent warming temperatures at KGZH). This supports a continued threat for local damaging wind gusts and hail across WW323 for the next couple of hours. ...Flournoy.. 06/17/2023 ....Please see https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.spc.noaa.gov__;!!DZ3fj= g!_4oSeUMSxyB0_6dqHTpbh40fgm9vD1hrqATYAixbfBIT23pwhhn9sj-LzuONED7y0FRNbmQjl= czubGA2PuKblSPz3yA$ for graphic product...
