The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 281
continues.

SUMMARY...The severe weather threat should persist for around one
more hour across the Florida Panhandle.

DISCUSSION...A cluster of storms continues southeast across the
Florida Panhandle this evening. Earlier these storms had reports of
large hail and damaging winds across southern Alabama but have since
weakened somewhat. Nonetheless, they remain in an environment
favorable for some severe weather threat with MLCAPE around 2000
J/kg and effective shear around 30 to 35 knots. Current satellite
trends do not suggest additional development in western portions of
this watch. Therefore, once this activity moves into the Gulf of
Mexico, the severe weather threat should end across watch 281 and
most of it may be able to be cancelled before the 00Z expiration
time.
