The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 271
continues.

SUMMARY...Strong to severe storms capable of locally damaging gusts
and hail will persist a few more hours. Local watch extensions are
possible if convection increases in intensity.

DISCUSSION...A band of convection stretches from near the central
MS/AL state line northeast to northwest GA. Convection has
sporadically been severe the past few hours. Most recently, an
organized bow moving into Pickens County AL is likely producing
strong to locally damaging gusts while other cells along the band of
convection with northeast extent have shown some modest
intensification via 07 km CAPPI. Sporadic severe storms are expected
to continue another few hours amid moderate instability and shear. A
downstream watch appears unlikely at this time given a lack of more
intense convection/faster moving squall line. However, local aerial
extensions may be needed near the edge of WW 271 in AL (and WFO BMX
recently added a few counties in west-central AL) before the 07z
expiration time.
