Isolated severe thunderstorms associated with wind damage and hail will be possible in parts of north-central Montana early this evening. ....North-central Montana... Latest water vapor imagery shows an upper-level trough from western Canada extending southward into the Pacific Northwest. Ahead of the trough, an axis of moderate instability is located from central Wyoming into central Montana. Scattered thunderstorms are ongoing along the western edge of the stronger instability, near and to the east of the I-15 corridor north of Great Falls. The Great Falls 00Z sounding has some instability, with MLCAPE near 1200 J/kg and 0-3 km lapse rates around 8.5 C/km. This may be enough for isolated and marginally severe wind gusts associated with the stronger multicells over the next hour or two. Hail will also be possible with the stronger updrafts. ...Broyles.. 06/06/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
