All-hazards severe weather risk will continue this evening across portions of Texas and adjacent parts of southwestern Oklahoma. ....Discussion... While convective intensity/coverage has begun to gradually/diurnally wane across most of the country, vigorous convection is ongoing across portions of the southern Plains. A fairly well-organized band of storms is moving eastward out of the Texas South Plains and into western North Texas at this time, with this band expected to persist for the next several hours. In the short term hail and locally damaging winds will remain possible with this band. Just to the north, into southwestern Oklahoma, a second band of storms is organizing, with some indications that this band may merge with the one to the south and then continue moving eastward as one larger MCS. As is the case farther south, locally damaging wind gusts, and marginal hail, will be possible over the next few hours. Finally, the most substantial convection is ongoing near the Rio Grande Valley -- largely in Val Verde County at this time. Here, several isolated cells -- including one supercell that produced a tornado within the past hour -- are ongoing. While the previously tornadic storm is now moving southeastward across the Rio Grande into northern Mexico, other strong/potentially severe cells -- capable of producing hail and damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado or two -- will continue moving southeastward across the Valley and adjacent parts of the Edwards Plateau over the next few hours. ...Goss.. 06/03/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
