Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible across the central and southern High Plains on Thursday. ....Synopsis and Discussion... Upper pattern is expected to feature ridging across the central CONUS, flanked on each side by closed lows. This general pattern is expected to remain unchanged throughout the period, even as the western CONUS low gradually shifts southward across OR and the eastern CONUS low progresses eastward across ME. Severe thunderstorm potential will be focused across the central and southern High Plains where another round of afternoon thunderstorms is likely. Upper 50s dewpoints are anticipated along and east of the lee trough, with thunderstorms expected to persist as they move off the high terrain into the lower elevations or as develop along the lee trough. Vertical shear will not be strong, but should still be sufficient for some storm organization amid the moderate buoyancy expected to be in place. Damaging gusts will be the primary severe hazards, but isolated hail and a tornado or two are also possible. ...Mosier.. 05/23/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
