The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 159
continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for damaging gusts continues across eastern VA and
the Delmarva Peninsula as well as eastern NC. A watch may eventually
be needed across coastal NC.

DISCUSSION...Strongest storms within the convective line are
currently moving across northeast/east-central NC, where the
strongest ascent is interacting with modest buoyancy. Damaging wind
gusts will remain possible with this line as it continues eastward.
Current trends suggest that the line will maintain its intensity as
it moves across the Chesapeake Bay and through the Eastern Shore.

Storm intensity drops off across southeast VA and into northeast NC,
where large-scale ascent and buoyancy are both modest. Farther
south, buoyancy increases slightly, which has likely contributed to
more cellular activity along the far southern extent of the
large-scale ascent. Damaging wind gusts remain possible with these
storms as well, with some potential for these cells to move eastward
into more of central coastal NC. Trends will be monitored in this
region, and an additional watch may eventually be needed.
