Little thunderstorm activity is anticipated through tonight. ....Synopsis... Scattered thunderstorms persist mainly over southern LA this evening, aided by steep lapse rates aloft with an upper low nearby. The 00Z sounding from LCH shows ample moisture and instability to support thunderstorms, with weak winds aloft. Although unstable, loss of heating coupled with lack of large-scale ascent suggests a general downward trend in this non-severe convection will occur into the night. To the east, more robust low-level moisture exists near the FL Keys, and gradually veering low-level winds overnight may yield an isolated thunderstorms across over far southern FL late tonight as instability increases due to moisture advection. Elsewhere, isolated lightning flashes may persist over parts of eastern WA into northwest MT due to cold air aloft with an upper trough, but these should wane given very weak instability and loss of heating. ...Jewell.. 04/12/2023 $$ = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
